Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a component of your blood, which is used to help with the healing process and support cell growth. By isolating PRP from the blood, we are able to inject it into various problem areas of the body, helping to improve the healing process. PRP is used for a variety of treatments including:
- Hair loss
- Sexual dysfunction
- Acute injuries
- Tendon injuries
What are PRP Injections?
We harness the natural healing capabilities found in the blood and use it to treat a variety of health concerns and problems. We find most patients see positive results from PRP injections, and experience limited discomfort during treatment. PRP injections involve the use of microneedles to inject PRP directly into treatment areas. For some patients, there can be multiple injections over a period of months while others need single treatments. PRP will begin working immediately to start promoting cellular repair and growth. Patients using PRP for hair growth and cosmetic needs often see results within a few weeks. Patients using PRP to treat muscle dysfunction report positive results within days following treatment.
What to Expect
PRP injections involve drawing a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to extract PRP from the blood. We then apply a topical anesthetic to the skin to numb the injection area. Once we harness the PRP, we will inject it into the treatment area with a microneedle. The procedure is relatively simple, and most patients spend less than an hour in our Ogden healthcare clinic for PRP injections. The healing process begins to work immediately as PRP starts repairing and restoring cellular growth. Patients usually see results within a few months, but some see results sooner based on treatment areas.
